  • Hey guys, yet another good issue, read the whole thing in one session. Look forward to the garageband item in August.

  • Great issue. Some good stuff here, especially for me, an eager podcaster of intermediate skill. You guys always teach me a new trick or two. But what I really like is the sense of community and energy. Makes me proud to be podcasting.

  • Thanks Jen for the info, now corrected.
    Cheers, Jimmy.

  • the presentation of this issue is very poor - seems like the design standard has fallen completely. Earlier issues where much better, it now does look amateurish and ghastly. Hope it improves next one.
    content - ok.

  • I just wanted to congratulate you all on reaching your first half year.

The magazine really has gone from strength to strength over the last 6 months (6 months!) and it is a real quality read which is genuinely informative and entertaining.

I'm amazed that you've all managed to find the time to do it, but if you want or need encouragement to carry on - then this is it! Keep it going guys - you have a unique product, and no-one can touch it for quality.

  • Great magazine. Some really good content in there, particularly the article about finding music. Surprised you didn't mention garageband.com though, as it's probably one of the best sources for original music out there...

  • qweenie... It's standard form to include some specifics when you (attempt to) give constructive criticism. Without it, it makes your comments worthless. Specifically, what did you find "amateurish and ghastly"?

By Chuck Tomasi, at 8:36 PM

  • Qweenie. Yes you are quite right that the design style has changed. I'm sure you have noticed that we now pack a great deal more in to the magazine than ever, more outside contributions and longer articles.

We can no longer afford to have large white spaces or huge text titles and keep the magazine down to a reasonable size. The magazine will continue to develop as it has with the addition of active hyperlinks and bookmarks that are now in place.

The phrase 'content is king' is often used by many, but in our case it is essential and predominant.

We do hope however that you continue to be a reader and we do value your contributions.

  • Mike O'Hara - thanks for the comment about Garageband.com. You're right, it was a bit of an oversight on my part (especially since I found a number of great bands there in my pre-podcasting days).

I hope to keep adding to the list of great music sites in the coming months, mentioning a different one every now and again, so I'll make sure I cover Garageband next !

  • Dear Sirs/Madams,

I enjoy reading your magazine. It is informative and interesting. However, I must say, in terms of content it's a little too much like a clique in that it seems to serve as an advert for a particular group of forum friends. The podshow ratings for example are a joke. Broaden your horizons and develop some impartiality and it will be a huge improvement.

  • PS:-
Please don't let my tagline of negativity take away from the great work you are doing. I think that dominated my last post somewhat too strongly. Not enough coffee! I must reiterate how imformative, entertaining and intersting the magazine is. Please keep it up!

  • Hi,

I live in Middle East. Actually I have a business in Iran and one in UAE and travel back and force.
I am known as the first Iranian podcaster. I have a personal website in Persian languege (www.mahmoodb.com), a website for podcasting (www.podcast.ir) and some weblogs. I have also a radio chanel (www.mahmoodb.com/radio).
I like to do the same thing that you have done for Iranain community. I mean, to run a magazine on PodCasting, as I beleive that podcasting would become popular in Iran and UAE very soon.
I like to know what kind of co-operation we could have and is this issue of any interest to you or do you have any comments, suggestions or else?

    Kind regards,
    Mahmood Bashaash,

  • Just to let everyone know, we do read these and in most cases answer personaly if required.

  • Dudes, the article about music podcasts says the main places to get music is PMN, MySpace and Magnatune. I love the license agreement on Magnatune, but while the choices of music styles are is varied and beyond just mainstream, their catalog is extremely limited.

I think folks missed out on a bigg-ie when not mentioning GarageBand.com. Sure, you don't automatically get permission to podcast the songs, but there's a huge selection, great charts and featured artists, etc.

It's all about the content (songs) and community (searchability and bands and song). And I don't think the PMN has caught up with GarageBand.com

  • Another top notch issue. Yes, I'm behind on reading it. *laugh*

I tried sending an e-mail to the person who handles your reviews but the e-mail is bouncing. Wanted to let you know.

    Keep up the great work!
